Xiaomi sub-brand ‘Redmi’ was said to announce a flagship smartphone this year. The device was spotted in plenty of leaks and was surfaced on various certification sites. But the naming scheme of the flagship phone was a question, well now the company’s General Manager has come out with a name, the Redmi K20.
A few days back the General Manager of Redmi ‘Lu Weibing’ questioned asking some naming for the upcoming Redmi smartphone. Many users suggest some great names, but a few days later i.e: today he has revealed that the device will be officially called as the Redmi K20.
The new ‘K’ series is said to be the new flagship series of smartphone from the company. Here ‘K’ stands for ‘killer first’ and the numbering ’20’ is just random. Some sources suggest that it’s for competing against brands with similar numbering such as Huawei and Honor. Now for the specs of the device, they were already tipped earlier.
The Redmi K20 will sport a 6.39-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display without any bezels. There will be a 20MP pop-up camera at the front top for selfies and at the rear, it will feature 48-megapixel+8-megapixel+16+megapixel lenses. It is said to capture great shots, thanks to the 48Mp Sony sensor.
Under the hood, the Redmi K20 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and will run on MIUI based on Android 9 Pie. It will house a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support of up to 27W. As far as the display protection is concerned, it will come with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
It is also expected to come with an In-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock as the security option. The Redmi K20 is said to debut in three colour variants, the Flame Red, Carbon Black and Glacier Blue.
Other than this, some sources suggest that the phone may launch as Poco F2 in some countries. So India might get the new flagship killer and the true successor of the Poco F1 soon.
