After a couple of fitness bands, weighing scales, smart gadgets, and smart home appliances, Xiaomi has finally stepped into the smartwatch segment. The company has launched the new Xiaomi Mi Watch at the event held in China. The smartwatch is kind of like a replica of the Apple watch but has its own skin on the gadget. It has all the features and specs to impress a smartwatch fanatic and also comes at a cheaper price than its competition. Let’s take a look.
The all-new Mi Watch comes with a 1.78-inch AMOLED display with a similar design footprint to the popular Apple watch. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and has an aluminium alloy body. It has a single 44mm variant with black rubber straps.
It comes in a Silver or Black colour variant and has a button and slider at the right side. It is mainly to control and set tasks on the smartwatch.
Getting into details, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC and packs in a 540mAh battery. The watch is claimed to last for up to 36 hours when juiced up fully. It also has a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Surprisingly, instead of any custom OS, the smartwatch runs on Google’s Wear OS with MIUI interface on top of it.
The Xiaomi Mi Watch has everything a smartphone does, it has a dual-SIM capability via e-SIM, application store, themes, Google assistance and more.
It also has NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Heart Rate support. It also comes with a six-axis sensor which is the same sensor found in the Mi Band. So steps tracking will be pretty accurate.
Moving to the pricing, the Mi Watch is priced at CNY 1,299(approx. ₹12,999) and it is also available in premium variant that sells for CNY 1,999(approx. ₹19,999). Currently, it is only available in China but if it comes in emerging markets like India, it would do pretty well considering Xiaomi’s fanbase here in India.
