Xiaomi has launched the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite today in an event in Spain. Both the phones with the vertical dual camera setup and some of the main highlights are the AI Camera feature and the Mi A2 is part of the Android One initiative by Google. Both the phones are certified to offer optimised stock Android Experience and will receive timely software and security updates. Mi A2 is the successor of the Mi A1 which was launched last year. Like the Mi A1 which was the Android One variant of the Mi 5X, Mi A2 is the Android One Variant of the Mi 6X.

In terms of Specifications the Mi A2 has a 5.99-inch Display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and also has 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass protection. The phone is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will also be one of the first device to receive the Android P update. The processor on the Mi A2 is Snapdragon 660 AIE where there 4 cores at 2.2GHz and four cores at 1.8 GHz. Talking about the ram there are three variants 3GB, 4GB and 6GB LPDDR4x.  And the storage option of 32,64 and 128GB.

 

Mi A2 has the Dual vertical Rear camera setup where we get the 12MP primary Sony IMX486 sensor with an aperture of f/1.75 and the secondary 20MP camera Sony IMX376 with the same aperture. The Rear AI Dual Camera setup is accompanied by PDAF and Dual tone LED Flash. In terms of Front camera we have the same 20MP Sony IMX376 with an aperture f/1.75 and there is a soft-LED flash light.  Both the front and back camera has the feature of AI Scene recognition for better colours in the photos and will be also used for AI portrait mode. Other features are AI Smart Beauty 4.0, AI Background Bokeh.

Mi A2 has a fingerprint sensor at the back and also supports Face Unlock. The battery on the headset is a 3010 mAh with QuickCharge 3.0 support which allows to go upto 50% battery in 30 minutes. In terms of other connectivity options Mi A2 has  Dual 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, IR sensor, USB Type-C. Sadly there is no 3.5mm headphone jack this time. The phone measures 158.7×75.4×7.3mm and weighs 168 grams.

On the other hand Mi A2 Lite has 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a Notch in the front. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 625 and RAM option of 3GB/4GB. The phone also supports microSD card upto 256 GB on top of 32GB/64GB Internal storage.

In terms of Camera Mi A2 Lite gets a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP  primary camera and 5MP Secondary camera. The phone also has AI features such AI Portrait Mode for both front and back and AI Scene recognition. The battery on the Mi A2 is 4000 mAh.

Both the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite will be available in Black, Blue and Gold colour. Xiaomi has priced the Mi A2 at €249 (Approx Rs. 20,000) for the 4GB/32GB Variant, €279 (Approx. Rs. 22,500) for the 4GB/64GB variant and €349 (Rs. 28,000) for the 6GB/128GB variant. The pricing of the Mi A2 Lite starts at €179 (Rs. 14,400) for the 3GB/32GB variant and €229 (Approx. Rs. 18,400) for the 4GB/64GB Variant. Both the phones will go on sale from August 10th in Spain through the official Mi website. In terms of India launch Mi A2 will cost more and according us will be priced above Rs. 18000 but again we will have to wait and see when Xiaomi officially announced the launch of Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. There are also rumours that Xiaomi will only launch the Mi A2 not the Mi A2 Lite in India.
