Apple has announced the latest flagship iPhone series and like the last year there are three new variants iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and the cheaper variant iPhone XR.

iPhone XS Max is the larger iPhone XS where the screen is 6.5-inch OLED Display as compare the 5.8-inch OLED display on the iPhone XS. The major highlight of the iPhone 2018 is the support for dual-Sim and the dual standby which apple has implemented with an eSim in place of second sim card slot except China where there will two sim card slots.

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max

Both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max runs on the latest iOS 12. As mentioned earlier the iPhone XS gets a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina display with the same notch as the last year iPhone X. On the other hand the iPhone XS has the 6.6-inch OLED Super Retina display  which makes it the the biggest iPhone sold till today. The notch is also present in the bigger version. In terms of form factor the iPhone XS Max has the same footprint as the iPhone 8 Plus but with the bigger screen.

In terms of hardware both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max is powered by the 6-core A12 Bionic chip which is 15 percent faster and 40 percent lower power consumption. There are 4 efficiency cores with upto 50 percent lower power consumption. According to Apple the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS will have better battery life which is 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes more than its predecessor respectively. The charging port is also the same which is the Type-A lightning instead of the Type-C USB.

Both the iPhone XS and XS Max will be available in 64GB, 256GB & 512 GB storage option. Talking about the design both the phones has the surgical-grade stainless steel body with glass casing on both sides which is also similar to the iPhone X. These two models comes with IP68 water and dust resistance which will 30 minutes upto 2 meters. There is no Touch ID in the 2018 iPhone lineup and now the phone comes with the improved and faster Face ID. Face ID uses the dot projector technology and the infrared  coupled with the proprietary hardware and algorithms to make it the fastest and “most secure facial authentication ever in a smartphone” claims Apple.

In terms of Camera the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max comes with an upgraded cameras where we have the dual camera setup at the back like the last year. Both the phones get 12MP wide angle sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and the 12MP telephoto lens for the secondary sensor with an aperture of f/2.4.  There is also an improved TrueTone quad LED flash at the back.

 

In the front we have the 7 MP RGB camera sensor on the both the phones which has an aperture of f.2.2

iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max Price

The iPhone XS is launched at the starting price of $999 for the 64 GB variant, $1149 for the 256 GB and $1349 for the 512 GB Variant. The iPhone XS Max is launched at the starting price of $1099 for the 64GB Variant, $1249 for the 256 GB and $1449 for the 512 GB Variant. The prices in India is as expected higher the iPhone XS Starts at Rs. 99,0000 while the iPhone XS Max price starts at Rs. 109,000.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will go on pre-order on September 14 and will launch on September 21st and week later will be available in more countries.

 

iPhone XR

Along side the iPhone XS, XS Max Apple also launched the iPhone XR which has the 6.1-inch LCD Screen and Apple has a new name for the display viz. the Liquid Retina. The pixel density of the iPhone XR is same as the iPhone 8 but it has the 120 Hz touch sensing and wider colour gamut.

Unlike the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max the iPhone XR has the single camera at the back but with larger 1.4µm  pixels and rest everything same as the iPhone XS.

iPhone XR is considered as the budget-conscious model where the max storage option is the 256GB apart from the 64GB and the 128GB storage options. The iPhone XR reminds us of 5c which was for the first time launched with different colours. Apple is doing the same thing and the iPhone XR is available in Yellow, Blue, Coral, Black and the Product Red.

iPhone XR Price

iPhone XR has the starting price of $749 for the 64 GB Variant, $799 for the 128GB and $899 for the 256GB Variant. In India the iPhone XR starts at Rs.  76,900 for the 64GB, Rs. 81,900 for the 128GB and 91,900 for the 256GB variant.

iPhone XR will be available for pre-order from 19th October and will start shipping a week later 26th October.
